Installation Steps:

  1. Preparation:
    • Clean the Surface: Ensure the surface is clean, level, and dry. Remove any dirt, dust, or old adhesive.
    • Level the Surface: Use a leveling compound to fix any uneven areas. This is crucial for a flat and even tile installation.

  2. Planning the Layout:
    • Find the Center Point: Measure the area to find its center and start laying tiles from there to ensure a balanced look.
    • Dry Fit Tiles: Lay out the tiles without adhesive to see how they fit and make any necessary adjustments.

  3. Cutting the Tiles:
    • Tools: Use a tile cutter or wet saw for clean cuts.
    • Measure and Mark: Measure where the tile needs to be cut, mark it with a pencil, and cut slowly to avoid chipping.

  4. Applying Adhesive:
    • Adhesive Choice: Use a thin-set mortar suitable for ceramic tiles.
    • Spread the Adhesive: Using a notched trowel, spread the adhesive on a small section of the floor. Hold the trowel at a 45-degree angle to create ridges.
    • Back Buttering: Apply a thin layer of adhesive on the back of each tile for better adhesion.

  5. Laying the Tiles:
    • Set the Tiles: Press the tiles firmly into the adhesive, giving them a slight twist to ensure good contact.
    • Use Spacers: Place spacers between the tiles to maintain even grout lines.
    • Check for Level: Use a spirit level to ensure tiles are even. Tap down any high spots and add adhesive under low spots.

  6. Grouting:
    • Mix the Grout: Prepare the grout according to the manufacturer's instructions.
    • Apply the Grout: Spread the grout over the tiles using a rubber float. Hold the float at a 45-degree angle and work diagonally across the tiles to fill the joints.
    • Clean Excess Grout: Wipe away excess grout with a damp sponge. Rinse the sponge frequently to avoid smearing grout over the tiles.
    • Polish the Tiles: Once the grout has set, buff the tiles with a clean cloth to remove any haze.

  7. Sealing the Grout:
    • Apply Grout Sealer: Once the grout has fully cured (usually 24-72 hours), apply a grout sealer to protect against stains and moisture.

  8. Final Cleanup:
    • Final Wipe Down: After sealing, wipe down the entire surface with a damp cloth to remove any remaining dust or adhesive.
